On 7 November 2025, a 17-year-old Muslim male student conducted a planned and premeditated bombing against a school Mosque which he attended in Jakarta, Indonesia. The attack is an outlier because the teen—who spent most of his at-home time in online spaces on his laptop—essentially became influenced to the point where he appropriated (internalized) the values, narratives, and symbology utilized by the Columbine (and related) active shooters. An overseas Muslim teen identifying with White Supremacist and Neo-Nazi ideology is almost unheard of and creates a strange juxtaposition when considering the more dominant Islamist radicalization trajectories related to Christians. The attack resulted in injuries to ninety-six students, with the perpetrator carrying a black assault rifle replica covered with far-right active-shooter text and symbology.
