On 16 October 2024, a criminal complaint was filed against seventeen-year-old Marvin Jalo for terrorism charges related to a weaponized (IED) drone (radio controlled; RC car) plot against the 2024 Phoenix Pride Parade being held later that month. He was preemptively arrested on 18 October 2024, two days prior to the parade taking place, and was charged with Terrorism. ARS 13-2308.01.A2 A Class 2. Felony and Conspiracy to Commit Terrorism, 13-1003.A2 A Class 2 Felony. Marvin Jalo is an affinity member of the Islamic State (IS; ISIS), having been recruited by the group in online chatrooms towards the end of 2023 or later. He can also be designated as a ‘Soldier of Allah’ (SOA). Since April of 2024, the Islamic State—especially the Islamic State Khorasan (ISK) branch—has been actively promoting weaponized drone attacks against Europe and the United States.
