Huachicoleros (Fuel Thieves) Santa Muerte and Demonic Grotto Shrine in Cuautepec de Hinojosa, Hidalgo

Mexican security forces raided a tunnel system during the early hours of Thursday 4 May 2023 in Cuautepec de Hinojosa, Hidalgo, Mexico. Fuel thieves (Huachicoleros) had built a 25-meter long tunnel system 4 meters underground to covertly siphon fuel from Petróleos Mexicanos (Pemex) fuel lines. In the location where the tunnel system was built, a magico-religious grotto shrine situated along the middle section of the floor of the tunnel contained two Santa Muerte statues (a larger Black one and a smaller Green one) on the left side of the shrine and two Demonic statues on the right side of the shrine....
