On 24 September 2025, a sniper—identified as twenty-nine-year-old Joshua Jahn—opened fire on an Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), Department of Homeland Security (DHS) field office in Dallas, Texas. He fired indiscriminately from a nearby rooftop at the facility and at an unmarked van using a clip-fed bolt-action rifle. He killed two ICE detainees (one having died days later) and injured one other prior to taking his own life at his rooftop shooting position. The words “ANTI-ICE” were written in blue pen on one of the rounds on a bullet stripper clip recovered from the rooftop. The incident followed a string of recent attacks on DHS facilities in Texas, with Federal and Texas officials immediately designating it ideologically (far left) inspired.
