Many of the current weaponized drone threat environment capabilities were identified, projected, and analyzed in the US Army War College (USAWC), Strategic Studies Institute (SSI), research report titled Terrorist and Insurgent Unmanned Aerial Vehicles: Use, Pontentials, and Military implications written by Dr. Robert J. Bunker in 2015 who had recently come off a two-year Minerva Chair postion at this military think tank. One of the capabilities highlighted in that report is the use of mass First Person View (FPV) racing drones weaponized with IEDs attached to them to precisely target and kill opposing soldiers. This Concept of Operations (CONOPS) was initially projected nine years ago as it related to terrorist 'virtual matrys' units. It has since been institutionalized and extensively utilized now by both the Ukrainian and Russian militaries:
