Foreign ‘Lone Mujahid’ Sohaib Abuayyash Pro-Actively Arrested in Houston: HAMAS Affinity Extremist Planning Terrorist Attack C/O Futures Terrorism Research Note Series Robert J. Bunker

12 November 2023

Sohaib S. Abuayyash, a 20-year old Palestinian from Jordan who was in the US on an expired nonresident visa, was proactively arrested in Houston, Texas by FBI agents for unlawful possession of a firearm. He had been engaging in numerous ‘Lone Mujahid’ behaviors and activities including training with weapons, undertaking physical conditioning, researching ‘how to create IEDs’ online, discussing martyrdom and attacking Jews at a Houston event, and was in contact with radicalized individuals. While he is being held without bail for possession of a firearm while on a non-resident visa—which effectively has pre-empted his ability to engage in a domestic terrorist attack—the FBI is continuing to investigate Abuayyash’s activities to build a stronger federal case against him.
